英語復(fù)試通常包含外國語聽力及口語測試兩部分。自我介紹環(huán)節(jié)是整場口試的熱身，目的是幫助考生放松心情、自然應(yīng)考，也讓主考老師對考生有初步的了解。這一環(huán)節(jié)的考試形式可能是考生進行自我闡述，也可能是考官引導(dǎo)考生進行個人情況介紹。前一種形式多用于只有一個考生參加的考試，而后一種形式較多用于兩人或三人一組的情況。這環(huán)節(jié)一般持續(xù)1～2分鐘。
