考試的日子在一點點地向我們靠近，面對翻譯這個題型，有同學認為是全靠英語基礎，就聽天由命吧，遇到認識的單詞就能多得兩分，遇到的不認識就猜吧。難道在這個階段，我們真的要聽天由命嗎？不，絕不向命運低頭，哪怕是多得一分也不放過，這一分就可以把你的競爭對手甩得遠遠的。
最近幾年來，翻譯的考察逐漸由以往對于復雜句式的考察轉向對詞句通順表達的考察，所以我們本篇文章也重點落腳于此。我們知道在翻譯具體操作過程中，若直譯通順，直接直譯即可，若直譯不通，下面這些詞性轉換的小技巧往往可以使我們翻譯更加通順。
1. 名詞轉動詞
英語表達多用名詞，而漢語表達多用動詞，所以在翻譯的過程中可以把名詞轉換成動詞以來符合漢語的表達習慣。
（1）In fact, it is difficult to see how journalists who do not have a clear grasp of the basic features of the Canadian Constitution can do a competent job on political stories. [2007-49]
【解析】

[1]中有how引導的賓語從句， [1]和[3] 是連在一起的，中間夾了[2]修飾journalists的定語從句, have a clear grasp可以理解為對……有清晰的掌握，而掌握這個詞在漢語中我們可以把它理解為動詞，所以在這我們也可以翻譯成動作，也就是，沒有清晰掌握加拿大憲法的基本特征。
【參考譯文】
事實上，很難設想那些沒有清晰掌握加拿大憲法基本特指的新聞記者何以何以能勝任政治新聞的報道工作。

這個句子的結構比較簡單，沒有復雜的語法現(xiàn)象，重點考查的是考生對詞匯的理解，[1]中By all accounts：大家普遍認為，freethinking：思想自由的，courageous：勇敢的。譯文：大家普遍認為，他是一個思想自由的人，是一個勇敢的人。[2]中an essential quality：一種重要的品質，譯文：并且我發(fā)現(xiàn)對于理解來說，勇氣是一種重要的品質。其中understanding：理解，這個詞從漢語意思上來說也可以作為動詞，所以我們可以試著把它翻譯成動詞，可以對譯文進行升級à并且我發(fā)現(xiàn)對于理解他的作品來說，勇氣是一種重要的品質。[3]中performance：表演，演出，譯文：更不用說他作品的演出，其中performance我們也可以用名詞轉動詞理解為演奏，可以進行一個升級：更不用說演奏他的作品。
【參考譯文】大家普遍認為，他是一個思想自由的人，是一個勇敢的人，并且對于理解他的作品，我發(fā)現(xiàn)勇氣是一種重要的品質，更不用說演奏他的作品。

這個句子整體來看語法結構不難，主要是短語的理解和對詞的掌握以及轉換，[1] 中justification：理由，認為有理，認為正當，those in need：貧困的人，譯文：忽視貧困的人的正當理由，很明顯，這樣翻譯不符合我們漢語表達，所以我們就可以把justification 動詞化，理解為為忽視貧困者的行為找理由，同樣地，[2]中rationalization合理化，也可以轉換為動詞，翻譯成為剝削找理由，[3]中有and的并列結構，superiority和inferiority相對應，可以譯為社會上層人群的優(yōu)越和社會底層人群的卑微。
【參考譯文】這似乎是在為忽視貧困者的行為找理由，似乎也是為剝削、為社會上層人群的優(yōu)越和社會底層人群的卑微找理由。
2. 形容詞轉換成動詞
在英語中，形容詞常常與系動詞搭配構成系表結構。而系表結構可以做謂語，從而使這些形容詞具有了動詞的意思，翻譯的時候需轉換為動詞。
（1）Darwin was convinced that the loss of these tastes was not only a loss of happiness, but might possibly be injurious to the intellect, and more probably to the moral character. [2008-50]

[1]中我們看到有出現(xiàn)了兩次loss of…，意思是…的失去，如果兩個都理解為…的失去的話，有點啰嗦，而且在漢語中，失去可以理解為一個動作，所以在這，我們可以利用名詞轉動詞，翻譯成失去了什么或沒有了什么。譯文：達爾文認為，沒有了這些愛好，不僅僅失去了快樂。[2]中be injurious to：…的損害，此處injurious和前面構成系表結構，我們可以嘗試著譯成動詞，也就是損害了……。譯文：而且有可能損傷智力，甚至更可能損害道德品質。
【參考譯文】達爾文認為，沒有了這些愛好，不僅僅意味著失去快樂，而且可能會損傷智力，甚至更有可能損害道德品質。
